Department
Moody's Project and Infrastructure Finance Group has responsibility for rating debt issued by public and private infrastructure issuers and electric, gas and water utilities. Such issuers include project finance entities that are limited to a special purpose by law, regulation, or contracts, as well as infrastructure and utility companies not contractually limited to a specific activity. Sectors covered by the Project and Infrastructure Finance Group include:
- Project/concession financings in the infrastructure sectors (toll roads, railroads, airports, seaports, hospitals, etc.
- Financings of natural resource and energy projects, including power projects and renewable energy projects
- Stadiums, lotteries, and other limited recourse concession-type financings
- Electric, gas and water utilities
The Role - Senior Associate/Associate Analyst - Project Finance
Together with other Senior Associates and Associate Analysts within the Project Finance Team, to provide support to Senior Analysts in relation to credit ratings, research and analysis for project finance debt instruments and capital market securities, with a focus on the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume primary responsibility for monitoring a portfolio of existing transactions - including preparation for annual reviews, and liaising with project issuers, their shareholders and intermediaries
- Analyse and document the credit quality of debt instruments for which Credit Estimates have been requested
- Contribute to one-off, special projects as/when required - for example, undertaking research, contributing to Moody's research publications, or preparing presentation materials for conferences
- Assist Senior Analysts in the analysis of new credits and in the preparation of rating committee papers
- Participate in rating committees
- Assist Senior Analysts with compliance tasks and with the preparation of management information
Experience
Credit analysis experience from a recognised financial institution; or experience of working in a project finance/infrastructure role within a recognised financial institution or audit firm; or experience of working in project finance/infrastructure in a professional capacity
Qualifications
- Strong academic background
- MSc or MBA in a Finance-related discipline or relevant professional qualification
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Good working knowledge of Word
- Good working knowledge of PowerPoint
- Familiarity with financial or other research tools eg Bloomberg
- Familiarity with accounting principles
- Strong written communication skills
- Analytical aptitude
- Organised approach
- Attention to detail, where appropriate
- Ability to identify and summarise key considerations
- Ability to apply own initiative and judgement
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Able to work to deadlines and manage own workflow/priorities accordingly

- Fluency in English essential
